Animal Traffic: the Metro Bus Shelter Mural
While preparing to create a mural proposal, I wanted to populate the image with animals that lived in Woodland Park Zoo. But the morning I went to photograph them, only a few were in sight. Where were the others? In Seattle if people are late for work, they usually got stuck in traffic. The ‘missing’ zoo animals inspired me to imagine them driving to work in fantastic kind of Animal Traffic.
In 2012 the Animal Traffic mural was placed on a Metro Bus Shelter in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood.
I photographed all these animals at Woodland Park Zoo. The building backdrop is a collage created from my photographs of buildings in Seattle. The cars were adapted from my photographs of an antique toy car.
